Episode 18 - Mostly Short and Sweet

Thank you so much for joining us for Episode 18. Today is Wednesday, October 22, 2014

What We're Wearing:

* Linda is wearing the Inspira Cowl by Graphica in Lion Brand Amazing.

* Brianne is wearing Monkey socks in Colinette Jitterbug.

Gooseberries:

* Linda loves making pretzel treats with Evan.

Recipe:
1 bag of mini pretzels
Hershey's kisses
Candy corn.

Place kiss on pretzel and lay on a cookie sheet
Place in a 350 oven for 5-7 min
Embed a candy corn on top.
Eat!
So easy even I can make it!!!!

* Brianne had a birthday and received a couple of patterns from viewers and a much-needed, new ball winder from Mom and Dad!

What We're Knitting:

* Linda is knitting the Elizabeth, a Cardigan by Cecily Glowick MacDonald with handspun made from Shetland batts I purchased from Diamond B Ranch in Arkansas.  And she wants to cast on fingerless Mitts with my gift yarn and my whirlwind Ranch yarn soooon!

* Brianne is knitting on Pogona by Stephen West. She now has the third section started! She also started the 5th Avenue Infinity Scarf by Margaux Hufnagle.

What Came Off The Needles:

* Linda finished Mama Vertebrae and the Inspira Cowl.  Yay Me!   Dreaming of Inspira #2! And a Handspun Eyelet Cowl

* Brianne finished Bryan's 2014 Christmas Socks! But can't believe that they were on the needles for 5 months!!!

Are You Kidding Me?!

* Linda learned more about reading charts.  As in you don't read every lines right to left every time.  What?!

* Brianne tried to make the Jojoland Tonic work for the Make Mine Strawberry sweater for Ailish. The yarn is all wrong for it gauge-wise and just knitting the swatch hurt her hands.

Gilding The Lily:

* Linda received Wool of the Andes in Larch colorway to make a layering piece for her wardrobe...  Something Red by Wendy Bernard

* We were both sent an absolutely lovely package from Raveler Fiberfeen in Norway. She spoiled us with beautiful handspun, Drops yarns and a lot of Norwegian chocolate! Thank you so much for the fiber and chocolate love!!!

It's a Good Thing!:

* Linda loves the Russian Join Part Deaux and how to make a matching sleeve when you are clueless.

* Brianne loves the two new iTunes reviews by Knittingmom65 and KnittinSisters!!! That makes 22 reviews. iTunes review dance time!!!

Episode 17 - Celebrating a Milestone

Thank you so much for joining us for Episode 17! Today is October 10, 2014.

What We're Wearing:

* Linda is wearing her Cabled Beret

* Brianne is wearing the first cowl she made back in 2008!

Gooseberries:

* Linda loved witnessing our own little miracle Owen celebrating a big milestone!  She thinks we should set mini milestones for ourself and then celebrate them along the way. Posting a "Yay Me!" can be a budget friendly way to celebrate the small accomplishments.  It keeps us always looking forward with joy!

* Brianne is so thankful that Owen is done with 28 months of chemotherapy. The staff threw a party for him and he got to ring the Survivor's Bell. His teacher even threw a surprise party and the kids all made him cards and brought little gifts. It has been so incredible.

What We're Knitting:

* Linda is knitting the collar and button band of her Mama V along with Fat Squirrel's knit-a-long.  I'm on the cuff of the sock I'm knitting for the Lemknitcrochet-along with Dawn at Wolfe Farms.

* Brianne turned the heel on Bryan's Christmas Socks and is making progress down the foot. She also picked back up Pogona by Stephen West and is loving that pattern! Finally, Brianne is swatching a sweater for Ailish called Make Mine Strawberry by Terri Kruse.

What Came Off The Needles:

* Linda finished Cabled Beret by Ashley Elva with the adorable and useful Wolfe Farms cable needle!
She also finished another flower for her Beekeeper Hexipuff quilt

* Brianne finished Owen's Flax sweater!!! She finished the first sleeve and started the second. 90% of the second sleeve was knit on the St Louis trip. She's going to block it tonight. Owen is so excited!!!

Spinning!:

* Linda spin up A gallon size bag of American wool CVM "California Variegated Mutant" which is a variation of Ramboulet.  It is a fine wool that is 3"-6" long with good crimp and color.

Are You Kidding Me?!

* Linda says needles are not for sitting.  AND the Whispering Pines shawl is a fail because Linda apparently does not know how to read charts.

* Brianne didn't keep good notes on Ravelry for Bryan's socks, so she had no details about the heel she did on the first sock. Rookie mistake!

Gilding The Lily:

* Linda received an amazing bag from the sweet and talented Sasha "Lou" who is Stitched by Sasha. The bag benefits Fuji the chihuahua who has cancer and gives me a place to put my Mama V sweater project.

Linda received hand dyed fiber from Liz at Whirlwind Ranch.  Love the colors.

Linda also received the fabulous tea pot cable needle made by James at Wolfe Farms

It's a Good Thing!:

* Linda - I can't get enough markers.  Idea!  If you have a certain number of increases or decreases to do, clip that number of markers on the first increase or decrease.  Then no need to count them when knitting.  When you've used the last one... You are done!

Also Russian Joining is a good thing.

* Brianne - iTunes reviews! We are up to 20!!! Thank you to whoyoub for your review!
