Episode 13 - Clean Faces & Open Hearts

Thank you so much for joining us for Episode 13. Today is Friday, Aug 29, 2014

What We're Wearing:

* Linda is wearing Just Knit It inspired by Sampler Girl knit in her handspun yarn in the colorway Pretty Japanese Ladies

Gooseberries:

* Linda is thankful for the kindness of viewers and Heather who sent Date Cookies and a Book called "You Will Get Through This" by Max Lucado

* Brianne is thrilled that Owen and Ailish have such awesome teachers this year!

What We're Knitting:

* Linda is knitting Elizabeth Cardigan by Classic Elite Yarns in handspun batts from Diamond B Sheep Farm's Shetland blend. She caked up a skein of Dyed by Julia sock yarn in Hibiscus colorway to start a vanilla sock with Fish Lips Kiss Heel and the Lemknitcrochet rounded toe recommended by Dawn and James from Wolfe Farms.

* Brianne has had a busy 2 weeks, but she made a little progress on Owen's Flax by Tincan Knits.

What Came Off The Needles:

* Linda finished Green Socks, Hats-A-Plenty Beret (A Straker Classic Design), Bluebird of Happiness by Sarah Elizabeth Kellner, Just Knit It by Stitchnerd Designs, heart and girl gnome by Susan Claudino,

Are You Kidding Me?!:

* Linda's fancy sipping lid for my jar glass became permanently lodged in place. She definitely would NOT recommend this lid.

* Brianne has a very disappointing problem. Her Lena Socks don't fit! She can't even get her foot in. So off to sister (Heather) they will go this Christmas.

Gilding The Lily:

* Brianne ordered Great Lakes Hand Dyed Ixion sock in the Pensive colorway, because she has a hard time resisting Harry Potter themed anything!

It's a Good Thing!:

* Brianne loves the custom made buttons that Rebecca from the Owl Knit With Ewe podcast put on her cardigan. It's a themed sweater and I love the buttons.  Rebecca has a fun, quirky podcast and you should take a look!

Thank you so much for joining us for Episode 12! Today is Friday, August 15, 2014

What We're Wearing:

* Linda is wearing Artfully Simple by Tamara Kelly found on Moogly.com

* Brianne is wearing her Cedar Leaf Shawlette by Alana Dakos out of Three Irish Girls Glenhaven Cashmerino Worsted. She is considering ripping it out and using the yarn for something else.

Gooseberries:

* Linda's brother, Gary brought her flowers!

* Brianne has been declared "The stealer of children's dreams" by oldest son Owen after she told him to clean up 10 things in the play room. She has also been called "The Misery Maker". Being overly dramatic MAY run in the family.

What We're Knitting:

* Linda is knitting green socks and ready to start Just Knit It by Stitchnerd Designs.  A shallow triangle pattern written for any weight yarn and any yardage. Learned about this pattern from Tanya who has The Sampler Girl podcast.  All other shawl pattern ideas have been shuffled further down the queue.

* Brianne is trying to finish up the Lena's socks. She's getting close! She also started some socks out of the Turtlemade Power Sock that she received last week. Aaaaand, there's another sock waiting in the wings (Spring Forward by Linda Welch)!!! And the Mountain Retreat Mittens by The Treadmill Knitter was gifted to her so those will probably be cast on soon! There's also a KAL for these mittens starting September 15th on her Ravelry group.

What Came Off The Needles:

* Linda finished Artfully Simple Infinity Scarf by Tamara Kelly in Red Heart Boutique Treasures in Spectrum Colorway, 4 Flower Power Dishrags, and a Beekeeper Quilt Flower by Tiny Owl Knits.

Spinning!:

* Linda plied the final skein of fingering weight yarn from Unwind Yarn Company 4.3 oz Superwash BFL in Alpine colorway. Brianne now has 2 - 226 yard skeins of fingering for socks.  (Love you sweetie.)

Are You Kidding Me?!

* Linda had the Accidental Möbius Debacle of 2014 and how she fixed it!

* Brianne got caught without knitting!!! Never again!

Gilding The Lily:

* Linda got a skein of Red Heart Boutique Treasures in Spectrum colorway to finish the Artfully Simple scarf.

It's a Good Thing!:

* Linda just discovered the "Your Pattern Highlights" feature on Ravelry

* Brianne created a knitting emergency kit for her purse.

Gilding The Lily:

* Linda  ordered a Sampler Girl notion bag for me and she gave us one for an upcoming contest!  Squeeeee!

* Brianne answered Silvia's question about how daughter Ailish got her name.

Bless your Heart:

* So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline.  Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense.  Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you.  And regardless of what else you put on, wear love.  It's your basic, all-purpose garment.  Never be without it.  Colossians 3:12-14 MSG

Episode 10 - Try Again

Thank you so much for joining us for Episode 10, Thu July 31, 2014

We were all set to podcast with younger daughter/sister Heather and actually did record twice, but the computer died both times just as we were getting ready to sign off!

Heather talked about an organization that she's a part of called Girls on the Run.  She started running about two years ago and has since ran several 5k's as well as a half marathon! She's currently in training to run another half marathon in a few months and a full marathon next year.  We're so proud of her!!!

What We're Wearing:

* Linda is wearing a String Theory cowl that Brianne knit for her gift box and that Linda snagged from said gift box.  ;)  She also mentioned Peggy from The 100th Sheep and her sister-in-law Ruthann from Sugar Pie Farmhouse.

Gooseberries:

* Linda loved having lots of family come to visit and being able to share pictures with each other with our iDevices via the Cloud.  She also fell in love with Pineapple Whip.

* Brianne had a blast during the Family Glam Girl Night after she and Heather found insanely crazy false eyelashes on clearance at Ulta (their favorite spot for sister dates!)

What We're Knitting:

* Linda is knitting Knit Night shawl made of yarn from The Flying Kettle and green vanilla socks made from Crock O' Dye. She is also playing around with a Tunisian crochet design of her own.

(In between, we also show our ignorance by not knowing the difference between Great Britain and the United Kingdom... answer here. Mom also tells us a bit about oil pulling. And she shows us her Denise Travel Crochet Hooks.)

* Brianne started a new pair of vanilla socks to knit on while family was in town. She also finished the first Lena sock and started the second! Brianne is also swatching for her third Camp Loopy project, which will be a sweater for son, Owen.

What Came Off The Needles:

* Linda finished 2 more Santa Gnome from Susan Claudino's "gnome is where the heart is." Part of Wolfe Farms Susan Claudino Designer Knit Along. She also finished her Passeggiata with yarn by Anzula and handspun from Wool Sundae Yarn Parlor. She ALSO finished her Snapdragon shawl using JulieSpins.

* Brianne has a surprise! It was a mason jar cup cozy using the leftovers of Mom's core spun handspun.

Spinning!:

* Linda skeined and set approximately 350 yards of Columbian wool from Eternity Ranch. She is in the middle of spinning a BFL braid from Unwind Yarn Company in the Alpine colorway.

It's a Good Thing!:

* Linda is thankful for Mr. Clean Magic Erasers

* Brianne shared her Salted Caramel Butter Bars. Now with pictures!!!

Congratulations! I'll contact you on Ravelry to get your mailing address.
